Android Notification Issues? Most Common Problems and How to Fix Them.

Android devices offer a great deal of flexibility and customization options, which is awesome. However, sometimes we may need a little guidance to help us navigate through it all.

Configure Do Not Disturb (DND)

When you enable Do Not Disturb on your Android phone, it creates a distraction-free environment by blocking all notifications and calls. However, Android allows E3 to bypass Do Not Disturb so you can get critical alerts at any time.

In order to allow E3 to override Do Not Disturb either:

  1. Open Settings on your Android phone.
  2. Select the Notifications tile.
  3. Scroll down to the General section and tap the Do Not Disturb tile.

You can also swipe down on your phone screen to bring up the quick access menu, find the Do Not Disturb button, Press and Hold this button and it will open up the Do Not Disturb page in your settings app.

  1. Select Alarms and Sounds under exceptions and make sure Alarms is toggled on.
  2. Select Apps under exceptions and add Emergent 3 with all notifications turned on.

               DnD

From now on, you will continue to receive notifications from E3 even in active Do Not Disturb mode.

Settings navigation and terminology can vary within different versions of Android and/or device manufacturers.

  3. Then scroll to and tap Volume.
  4. Turn on Ringtone. This can also be done from the side volume button settings.

Notification settings on the lock screen

If notifications don't appear on your Android phone's lock screen, follow the steps below to make changes.

  1. Open the Notifications menu in Android settings (refer to the steps above).
  2. Select Notifications on the lock screen.
  3. Tap the radio button beside Show conversations, default, and silent.

You'll now receive notifications on your Android phone's lock screen.

Disable Battery Saver mode

An active Battery Saver mode on your Android phone delays notifications, disables location services, and turns off background activities. Either it's time to give it a charge or disable the Battery Saver mode.

  1. Launch Settings on Android and scroll to Battery.
  2. Select Battery Saver.
  3. Disable the Battery Saver toggle from the following menu.

Disable adaptive battery

Adaptive Battery mode reduces performance and background activity to extend your Android phone's battery life. It may interfere with E3 app notifications too. The option is enabled by default on most Android phones. Follow the steps below to disable it.

  1. Open the Battery menu in Android settings.
  2. Select Adaptive preferences.
  3. Disable the Adaptive Battery toggle.

Lock essential apps in the background

Android OEMs (the companies that make the phone) like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, and Vivo implement an aggressive battery-saving mode to kill inactive apps in the background. You can lock essential apps like E3 in the multitasking menu to continue receiving notifications without any issues.

  1. Swipe up and hold from the bottom to open the recent apps menu.
  2. Long tap the E3 icon and tap the E3 icon again and select Keep open or Lock this app.

The system makes an exception for locked apps and won't completely kill E3 from running in the background.

Check background data settings for affected apps

If you disabled background data permission for E3, notifications won't work until you open the app.

  1. Long tap the E3 app icon and tap i to open the app info menu.
  2. Select Mobile data & Wi-Fi.
  3. Enable the Background data toggle.
